Todays Autocar 30/11/05 had following story:-

US Sales of Cayennes collapsed 26% to 11000 units in the first 10 months of 2005, after last year's bullish start. Industry watchers cite the market wide decline in US off roader demand plus niggling Cayenne quality problems []

No surprise here.

It will be interesting to see if this recovers a bit as people get used to high petrol prices (if there is such a thing in the US!).

Also if the Cayman brings an upside to the Porsche financials to offset this.

So Porsche bring on the Cayenne DS (V8 Diesel Audi Unit) NOW PLEASE it's a 4X4 not a 911!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Des, calm down, stop shouting[:)]
Cayenne is 4x4 , but so is a 959 and the Quattro sport that a certain Walter R. used to pedal. It needs an oil burner about as much as a landrover defender needs slicks and a rear wing. Porsche's biggest mistake was adopting the already corrupted SUV tag . The Cayenne is a true sport utility vehicle all the other SUV's are at best SAV's, Spritely Agricultural Vehicles ('cept for the Range Rover wich is a V8 victorian drawing room[;)])
