Same blown Fuse Twice in One week

For the rear Driving Light....
Obviously a Short?..where do I start.....
That's the only fuse Blown

Forgive me, for I've only been driving for 50 years, but what's a rear Driving Light?

If that's the only fuse blown, I would start from the bulb and work backwards. It could be corroded terminals or the wiring at any point where it bends sharply or is flexed a lot, eg where it goes through a door or boot lid opening.

Robin

Do you mean the reversing lights?

Is the fuse blowing every time you use these lights or is there (possibly short)(no pun intended) periods of use when the fuse doesn't blow (that is to say a period of time when the lights are actually on). If it doesn't blow every time then you can rule out a dead short. Remove both bulbs, (I'm assuming here you meant reversing lights). Re-connect each bulb in turn. (Remove first bulb, replace with second). repeat for the other bulb holder.
I assume you know not to replace the original fuse with a higher rated one, don't want the car going up in smoke!).
Report how you get on.

Cheers,

As above but without the sarcasm.

Yes - why would someone come on here for the first time and take that attitude? Hey ho....[]

For Robin's benefit, I'd assume that rear driving lights are the lights, at the rear, used whilst you're driving. Often coloured red. Sarcastic enough? [;)]

Nouveau may also have meant reversing lights, brake lights or fog lights. Maybe he'll learn his lesson and not confuse people next time! [:D][:D]

The trouble is that those sort of responses will put people off asking for help... the very purpose of these types of forums[8|]

Thank you Paul And "Appleton" for the defence
Obviously, Had I meant the Reversing, Fog, Indicator Lights That is what I would have written, as they seem to have a universal appellative..I know the rear lights are Called Rear Side Lights (in Driver manual at least)...yet, I thought someone would inform me the are no lights on the side of the car at the Rear!

Correct. 1986 manual calls them "rear side lights". How silly of you not to use the exact terminology for the benefit of some forum users....[;)]

Sorry if I seem to be "stirring it" but mine has these.... They are called "Side Marker Lights" [:D]

Seriously but.. As said earlier take out the rear bulbholders and bulbs you suspect. Switch on Fogs/reversing lights/sidelights and see if the fuse blows. If this happens then its a short circuit in the wiring. If the fuse holds then replace the bulbs one by one until the fuse blows. You will then know which circuit is at fault. If you find out which fuse number it is then you will find out which is the offending circuit.

Sorry everyone - no offence intended. I did genuinely wonder if it was maybe a Porsche term I wasn't familiar with.

I'll try to act my age in future.

Robin

Don't worry about it too much Robin, not many people do act their age on here.

Come next birthday my age and I.Q. will be finally be the same.[:)]

Cheers,

Nick,
Just having a play this afternoon. Not very keen on it so I will probably revert to the self portrait. I'll try and embed the oilcan here so that people know what you were on about.

Cheers
