Sanef Motorway Tag

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone confirm where the Sanef motorway Tag should be attached on the windscreen, of a 997 series 2 ?
Hope someone can help !
Thanks.

As high up behind the rear view mirror as possible. Normally should be located in the black zone of a windscreen but the 997 has a very small area available. Should be no problem as the 997 screen is not thermic glass or heated.

We just keep ours in the glovebox. When we approach the toll the passenger holds it up against the screen.
Of course this works best with a passenger [:D]

I do the same as Mark. Get my wife to hold it up to the windscreen. The rest of the time it sits in the glovebox. It is a great device . A bit like travelling business class - you skip the long lines waiting at the regular booths.

Yes, in the black zone is the suggested place.(to the left of the mirror works fine)
I've just got a new smaller one and you can easily remove the Tag from the holder or leave it in whilst away in France.

I too have just got one of these, the leaflet describing the fitting shows it to the right side of the rear view mirror in the black area. Does it matter left or right? Im guessing not.

We keep ours out of sight and in the little shielded bag until we need it at the peage ....if you get it stolen you could be paying for some one else to use it !

Sounds sensible, when you enter the Tag zone does it matter where you hold up the Sanef dongle in the window?

We just held it up on the passenger side of the screen until you hear it beep , and up goes the barrier and away you go .

where does the beep come from, if its the tag then I assume it has some kind of internal power source, seems unlikely so Im guessing the beep is from the toll barrier ? Sorry if I seem to be being somewhat pedantic!

The beep comes from the tag which is battery powered ....although it is probably 6 or 7 years old now and have'nt used it for a couple of years .

Pretty scary the first time you use it, driving right up to the barrier wondering whether it's going to work or not or you're going to have to make everyone behind you back up! [:(]

Quite a relief when it beeps and the barrier goes up. [:)]

Regards,

Clive.

Probably more of an issue with a soft top! If they break into my car the last thing I'm worried about is them running off with the Sanef tag! I'm sure it's easy to cancel anyway.

Mines fixed up behind the rear view mirror too.

It's only if you have a windscreen treated with a special infrared filter/coating thing (like heat insulating glass or something like that) where it doesn't work. I've used them for years and they've worked anywhere behind the windscreen. Occasionally back in the olden days I had to wave it around outside the car but that had more to do with the technology I think!

It's amazing how small it is now, it just sits imperceivably behind the rear view mirror for me...also love the new lanes where you don't have to stop at all anymore, although you freak out approaching the barrier a little bit!

We used to store ours in the glove box and have my wife wave it around aimlessly until it beeped!
She then went technical and insisted it worked better if holding the flat side to the window- it doesn't [:(]

I replaced my older larger unit recently as they will give you a new unit after 5 years, with the new smaller they easily stick behind the mirror.
I heard of the French having them stolen but as mentioned by TS, that would be the least of issues if broken into.

There was a deal on when you buy it after you buy a eurotunnel ticket you don't pay the application fee or something like that, shows up on the eurotunnel website. I can't recommend it highly enough, especially in summer when you'll start getting the massive traffic jams because of all the tourists...

I am thinking of one for LeMans this year?
Do it!!
But don't hang around as there is usually a rush of orders going in towards Lemans time of year...
One of the joys of Lemans is driving past the queues at the toll booths [:D]
