Saratoga Sunroof - Bulk-Buy

Chaps,

Tom (944Fripp on here) is a very clever chap and he has been looking into having a batch of Saratoga Sunroofs for 968's made. For those who don't know, the Saratoga Sunroof was an optional 968 extra, available from your friendly local Porsche dealer back in the 1990's when you bought the car. I don't know how much they cost then but can only imagine that they were painfully expensive. Not many were made and hence they are rare things nowadays. They are a tinted glass sunroof panel that is a slot-in replacement for the existing plastic panel that almost all 968's have. Being glass, they allow much more light into the car. Being tinted, and made by Pilkington (who are very smart people), they won't make your car into a high-speed roasting oven when the sun shines. If you want to know more then have a look at the Rennlist forum where they had something similar done a few years ago. Start at Page 52:

Pilkington Glass made the originals and they will be re-doing a short production run. Prices (inc. VAT, but excluding delivery of £25) are as follows;

1 off: £457.87
10+: £432.04
15+: £418.27

You will probably be allowed to collect for free from the Pilkington works where they are made, most likely to be Huddersfield.

I understand (but will double-check to confirm) that these are the design to fit the later 944's and 968's with electric sunrooves (not the earlier, manual-roof 944's and 924's.) They are being produced in a batch so the more people who are interested, the cheaper the price will be. If you are interested then please add your name to the list below. Putting your name down isn't an absolute commitment but I'd rather you only did so if you are genuinely keen to buy - i.e. don't put your name down if you are simply interested in hearing more, or may think about it in the future, or would like one but can't really afford it etc etc etc! If the order goes ahead then you will be asked to pay for your roof up-front and will be kept informed as the production happens. (This will be a strict rule; you will need to pay, in full , in advance, and there will be no refund if you change your mind.)

List of people interested is thus:

1. zcacogp (Oli).
2. 944Fripp (Tom).
3. ALZ 1933 (Alan).
4. 944Scott (Scott).

Oli.

Flagged on porsche968uk as I've seen a number of interested members on there, have told them to register on here and add their names - fingers crossed they get their fingers out - if I still had my coupe my name would already be on the list, and it's tempting to get one in case I do swop back to a coupe!

Please put me down for one. (I have already signed up on the 944 list, so please don't duplicate it. I only need one!!)
