hiya all, trying to find out if any of the 944 users are attending this sats meet at the ace cafe and is anyone going from east
london/essex borders , if yes! see you there, regards jason p

Me and boy went to the last one all the way from Peterborough. Lol we were the only 944 in the village. Was a very poor turnout in general. Not many there at all. I put it down to the weather.

I haven't been since it was moved to a Saturday. A big mistake IMO, I have things on at the weekend!

There's always been low turnout in winter. IIRC the highest number of cars was 140, lowest about 6. Still, it's a great venue with good cheap food and drinks even if it's quiet.

It's a shame that the new night is a Monday, as I'm commited every Monday except Bank Holidays. Hopefully it will get a new lease of life with a weekday slot.

It's unusual not to get the majority of the cars on winter nights to be from the front-engined Registers. I think there were three 944s and a 924S on that legendary lowest-ever turnout night. Are you regulars not bothering any more? [&o]

I have been familiar with the ACE cafe for a number of years even befoire Porsche ownership. It is just round the corner from my London depot at Stonebridge Park. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere in there and have been turned away for parking on more than one occasion [:D] I have only been once on Porsche night and turnout wasn't so good but would love to go more often. Sadly not this weekend though. I think it makes an excellent venue for forum members to get together and pick each others brains. I would love to spend the evening ripping the guts out of someone elses car [:D] although can't imagine would be too pleasant this weekend. There was about 10 cars the last time. Most were fairly modern 911 variants but there was a really well restoreed 912 in white. Sadly only other FE car was a 928.

I was @ the Ace for the Nov meet... the steward was freezing from inactivity ... there were about 6 cars or so... very quiet... I think there was a 928 on that night ... mostly 996s and 997s... I was the only air-cooled left as the 2 before me left after 20mins...?

I am looking to be there this Sat weather permitting - maybe see some of you FE boys there...

Lol I can't remember when I went was it Oct or Nov??? Was there a white 912 right at the front door that night? If so I probably have a pic of my boy stood in front of your car.

At my age, remembering what happened yesterday is always a challenge... I do remember a white 912 but I also remembered that it was packed that night and was probably just before the summer months... Post a pic if you can...

after the above posts and todays weather [almost sideways out of our cul de sac] i will leave the ace meet until mondays in the new year, after having spent all summer getting my baby back to excellent condition, the thought of a patch of black ice and"sods law" is too much, so see you in the new year. regards jason p
