I'm looking at some sat nav discs from a guy in Poland, has anyone had any experience of such items off ebay.I'm also asked if mines an eight or sixteen bit PCM, it's a 2000 C4 if anyone knows, thanks in advance.

You should have the 8-bit navigation drive. The 16-bit version was introduced in January 2001. Unfortunately, the Vauxhall/Opel disks won't work in your drive, which is probably what the Polish seller is offering.

Porsche list a "2008/2009" map set for PCM1, but it is £303+vat. I think that would be your only option.

These work just fine.[;)] Read the terms and conditions and make up your own mind.

Those are for PCM2.0 and PCM2.1 Geoff. Gary has PCM1.0.......

Thanks for the replies gentlemen, I'll keep looking,£300 isn't really an option, bit steep isn't it.

I would put the £300 towards a decent aftermarket double-DIN head unit which work better, and be more functional than any PCM unit. In your car, it would be a relatively simple swap.

Terry!

Yes, you would lose the Trip function of the PCM, but you could still use the OBC function on the stalk. Small price to pay IMO.

Hi Guys, I've also been looking into the Sat nav problem. Mine is a 2004 C4S. I've heard so many things about disks being good/bad its hard to know what to believe. All I'd like is a postcode function on my sat nav, the rest is fine. Anyone had any success?

There are similar problems with the MB Comand satnav system, where those that know warn against dodgy copy type discs that can easily turn your £2500 Comand system into a useless box with only replacement as an option - OUCH!! However, many upgrade disc sets can be used more than once (except MB have now somehow linked the upgrade to the VIN to stop this, but thankfully on cars somewhat younger than mine!) so there's an active market on the forums and eBay for genuine discs - normally for half or less the price of a new set from a reputable source (MB or Comandonline normally). For example, MB today quoted me over £150 for the update discs for my Comand, I've seen them sell on eBay for £60.

I'd be very leery of copy discs from wherever - replacing PCM is probably as expensive, if not more, than replacing Comand.

Whatever disks you get (genuine or copy) you won't get post code searches. It just isn't built in to the software.
