SAT NAV Dynamic Route

I have a 2004 C4S with PCM2 and 3.0 operating software. One thing that's always puzzled me is the Dynamic route option on the navigation. The manuel states that this uses TMC which is turned on/off using the info button. I've looked and can't find this option. Any idea's?

I'm glad you asked that question as I haven't a clue either and had been wondering the same thing myself! [8|]

I don't think TMC worked in the 996, certainly not when I had mine... there was a issue in the first years of the 997 when Porsche finally subscribed to the service and owners had to pay to have a software update done in order for it to work..
Maybe it is still just a software thing still..
I know its saved me a few hour sat in trafic jams that it knew about before me[:)]

I believe it's like the early 997 issue that Gary mentions it's a licensing thing i.e. Porsche never had an agreement to put the encryption key sold by the sole provider of TMC (Traffic Message Channel) data in the UK iTIS on the Navigation CDs. So potentially it could still be made work with an official navigation update disc for PCM2 but I wouldn't hold your breath.

TMC is only available as a paid service from iTIS in the UK but in most other European countries like France, Belgium, Italy and Germany there are both subscription and free public services and the service AFAIK works fine on PCM2 with these free public service TMC broadcasts if you take your car abroad.

For all PCM2 delivered before April 2005 TMC functionality was not available in the UK, only worked in the rest of Europe. Even though it was clearly stated in the sales brochures that it would. After many complaints and no joy, Porsche expected me to pay £400 for a software update and later map DVD![] Anyway 2 years later I purchased a 2007 map DVD from a fellow member and updated the software myself all for £80. TMC now functions in the UK, whoopee. Now all we need is full post code search and Porsche SAT/NAV will finally arrive in this century.

Yes, my 996 did actually work in Europe including Switzerland and France...

Just not in the UK... so no change there then [:'(]
