I am in urgent need for a Sat Nav screen for a 98 996...

Does anyone happen to know where I could get one. Or has anyone got one hidden in their top pocket.

Or can anyone tell me where I can get one through some kind of specialist.

Thanks guys...Your help would be appreciated.

I might add that i'm not looking to retro fit it as that would cost evern more arms and legs.

the screen that is fitted to the car is faulty and Porsche want my other arm and leg to replace

a friend of mine has a spare one - bought off ebay a few months ago - but as his 996 Millenium has been stolen and found burned I don't think it would be of much use to him anymore so I will check with him as soon as he is back from Athens and let you know.

Hi Lee,

just met with my friend George and saw the said satnav screen / system . It is suitable for for up to MY '03 vehicles, it is and indeed looks virtually brand new, boxed, and also has its code card. George says he is willing to give it away for around £700 (he paid £950 for it- he actually bought it brand-new unused from a Boxter owner who wanted to upgrade his sound/comms system - but who then traded-in his car for a new PCM-equipped car- and is willing to include registered postage to UK.

I have taken some pics of it - how do I upload them? If you want, PM me at apollo11@cytanet.com.cy so that I can send you detailed pics of it.

I would advise you check your own unit's numbers to verify this one fits, which is:
Porsche part number: 996.642.144.00.EWD

Best regards

I thought the wiring changed to a "MOST" bus system in in about MY2002?
Or it might be when the "new" PCM-2 sat-nav came in (part of the change was to update the sat-nav to MOST wiring).

I think only PCM-1 will fit a 98?

(If I'm talking rubbish then apologies!)

Mark,

as far I know, wiring changed to MOST as of MY'03, so essentially PCM-1 fits vehicles from 98-03 (pre-MOST).

Best regards

You're spot on, PCM-2 is MOST BUS only, PCM-1 is pre-MOST

I might have a PCM-2 unit and all the required brackets and GPS antenna for sale soon if I trade my Boxster in for a 996.
