Sat-Nav upgrade for 997?

Hi
I have agreed a deal on an ex-demo 997S with Sat-Nav, but I note that it is the 2004 version, not the more detailed 2005 version as on my current 987S.
Does anyone know whether or not there is a software/hardware upgrade that can be fitted so that I get the added accuracy/info from the 2005 version?
My OPC was a bit bamboozled when I asked them, hence me turning to the Forum for advice.
Many thanks
Rob

They know only too well about the SAT/NAV issues. See other threads rearding TMC and out of date mapping on this forum. Besides the latest 2005 maps seem to have been compiled by a one eyed Roman legion officer. I know this because my maps show my car often located in the middle of open countryside and not aware of some roundbouts or junctions etc. which have been there for Donkeys years. The new 997 register moderator is championing the cause for the afflicted.
I would suggest that the SAT/NAV with working TMC and accurate maps should be a condition of purchase. That should rattle someone's cage at the OPC.

Now that is a clever idea; you are not a lawyer by any chance, are you?

My OPC quoted £460 to upgrade the sat nav on my April 05 987S to 06MY spec.

I'm waiting to see what progress the Club/Registers can achieve in its discussions with Porsche Cars GB.

Julian,
I'm no lawyer, just a been there, done that, got the tee shirt, cynical grumpy getting old frustrated regular guy.

Oliver,
My local OPC were quoting about £250 + vat when it becomes available (around December they said). Nice to to see they are all singing from the same lie, sorry, hymn sheet. After I said that I had already paid for TMC its all gone very quiet. I do sympathize with the OPC's as they are probably not getting any definitive answers from PCGB or PAG. So they have to fob off their customers with bulls**t and concocted information.

Hi Rob, Congratulations on the 997, let me know when you take delivery and I'll send you the register form. In the meantime, make sure you get the PCM upgraded to v2.1 and the 2005 disc in the car. Don't even try to open that TMC upgrade can of worms !![&:]

Hi Rob
Thanks for the welcome, and yes, I will send you details of the car when it hopefully is ready next week.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Boxster Forum and the very helpful advice received there, and look forward to contributing my 'bit' to the 997 Forum.
Cheers
