Sat-Nav upgrade quote

Hi
Having a 2004 MY 997S, I figured that the Sat-Nav could do with an update to include new roads on the continent/UK for when we beetle off for our hols this year, so I went to my local OPC.
Quote was for £350 plus £50 installation charge (all ex-vat).
Is this the going rate as it seems a bit steep for a new disc and software boost?
Apart from more accurate mapping are there any other benefits (apart from TMC)?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Rob

Can someone tell me why the Sat Nav won't except the full post code? it only excepts the first 4 letters / numbers

This is in a 997S 06 model

Roger

Sorry

By the way that up grade does sound expensive, the roads could not of changed that much.

Cheaper to change the car to an 06, go for it

Roger

Less data for it to have to store I presume. At least it will get you in the general area. But does seem a bif naff especially for the price of it.
Cheers,

It's a soar pint for me. I think Porsche are terrible on the sat nav front. Well behind the general market. It's a shame.

remember, if they are good enough for the German and US market then they are up to date with the general market, we don't really matter...

Roger, can you remind me where in the menu system post code entry is accessed ?
I have an MY06 and the dealer showed me this facility, however, I have never been able to find it since.
The dealer informed me that the SatNav would only accept a short post code (3 characters I think).

You just enter the postcode (first 4 characters) into the address field, then choose the relevant road name and number from the list.
