Satnav upgrade

I have 58 C2 with PCM 3.0 and software Version 1.4. I do not think I have any postcode input. Can this version still take the latest 2013 satnav upgrade as currently offered by the OPCs at £149.95? Many thanks

I have just had my 2010 turbo s upgraded by OPC. It had version 1.4. The dealership had some problems with it as it was the first one they had done but got the car back on Friday and the upgrade working perfectly. All for £149.

Does any one know what options there are to upgrade the sat nav on a 2004 997? Mine has the original 2004 disc but I believe it is not as simple as buying a later disc. There's a fair bit of speculation on various forums but no one seems to actually know ? I'd rather not bother than completely mess up the nav !

@C2MTH
I have tried both paths:
Bought Update for 05-4S from ... Aheem - Ebay - and got it working after a couple of attempts. CD was in wrong format and it was obviously a home made copy.
I got it working in the end - but I don't know how close I was to bricking the SATNAV - cannot be recommended!

When switching to a 07-Turbo, I asked the OPC for a SATNAV update instead of a discount, as part of deal.
They were pretty happy to oblige and it worked as expected - but it is not all of a sudden a PCM v3 ;-)
I think this is the way to go - and use it as a bargaining tool if you need/want something back from OPC.

Thanks for all the advice looks like it is do'able at the OPC without too many problems. Next question - how do you know what maps are on the hard drive? eg, France, Spain and their date etc?

Should be upgradable to find out could please press MAIN and TRIP at the same time.

Then select PCM using the rotary knob, press the same button to confirm:

Don't know what date the maps are but presumably as it's the latest update it will be the latest maps available? Zooming out I can see that it goes from Northern tip of Norway, down through Belarus, Ukraine, Romania and Baltic countries in the East, Greece, Italy and Spain to the South and Ireland to the West.

To those who have taken the hit from OPC, is it worth the money? Mine has to go in for a 4 year (major) service next month, and the £150 is a drop in the ocean on the quote they have given me so I am tempted to say yes, just to have it up to date. Views appreciated.....

On another note, anyone with ideas on how to get the speed cameras best displayed in the car? Shame that the satnav doesn't incorporate (a la Tom Tom or similar). I have no experience with Road Angels, but would certainly like to hear collective thoughts. It is to better understand the traffic black spots....health and safety reasons you understand....[:)]

On Road Angel products, I had an Pogo Alert + which was great and compact but the screen went very dull and although out of warranty they said they would replace it without me pushing. So customer service good.

However, they ran into production problems and no longer have any so they are shipping me a Gem Plus Delux which looks a bit chunky...

I use Road Angel on an iPhone, there are also Tom Tom, CamerAlert, and Trapster apps which I believe run on other phone operating systems. Just get a windscreen mount and go. I find the various databases 'complement' one another so you can run several apps concurrently.

+1 For CamerAlert works pretty well.

I would be inclined to go for it whilst it's being offered at this special price. I was originally quoted £350 + labour for the upgrade and, as it can take 3-4 hours to complete, the cost seems very reasonable. Any future potential buyer will expect to inherit a 7 digit postcode system, so it's a no brainer, really. [;)]

Clive.

I was told that the updated map is the 2013 version, so quite a few years advance for some cars.

The upgrade is certainly worth it but still doesn't take it into Tom Tom/Garmin territory! My Tom Tom will navigate almost to my door (which is quite impressive given that the last 400m is down a non public road) but the PCM, with the same postcode info, takes me to a point 2 miles away![:(] Lucky I know where I live then....[:D]

Thanks Clive,
I think you are right....it will be the expectation moving forward, and £150 seems reasonable.
