Booking Details added.

A special day is being arranged for PCGB members by OPC West London. The day will include a free health check to ensure that your car is running in tip-top condition, and there will be an opportunity for you to discuss any issues on an individual basis.

Technical advice will be on hand by the OPC servicing engineers and there will be an opportunity to browse the showroom and Porsche wares.

Ideally we are looking at a 10-1pm session followed by some light refreshments but this can be extended to the afternoon for individuals who cannot make it in the morning or if the numbers are high.

You will also have an opportunity to book a test drive on any of the current models.

For the booking please ring Porsche West London directly on 0208 742 7000:

Free healthcheck booking ask for: Service booking department and then quote, "15 July Porsche Club GB Healthcheck" to the service booking person, you will also need your PCGB membership number.

For test drive, please ask for either Julia Ashfield or Linda Freeman and state that you are booking for "15 July Porsche Club GB Test drive" and give your PCGB membership number when booking.

Booking the above is not mandatory for coming to the centre; please do still free to come along and meet members and enjoy some light refreshment at around 1pm but you will have to inform us, so we have an idea of the numbers attending.

It would be great if you can also email us on R20@PORSCHECLUBGB.COM, so we get an idea on how many are coming (saves me making regular calls to OPC to check on numbers[;)]).

Hi all,
Just in case you missed the emailshot we did last week; Porsche West London is also having a used car event this weekend just in case you need another excuse to come and show your face. Mate - if only we got a commission from Porsche for every car they sold in London, we'd be laughing. [;)][&:] Sadly we don't! Until then, this event has taken us personal effort to setup and arrange for the members. We are very grateful that Porsche Centre West London have been good enough to offer a valuable free service for PCGB members whilst taking a close up look at an extended range of new and used cars available for sale. Good luck with your Audi...

You can't be serious......[]

Edited to say -I've just seen your other post Ashley -you obviously have an axe to grind (but you are probably right -I haven't dealt with an OPC for more than spares for ten years....[;)])

Hope the day went well Adrian....

I've not mentioned commission thats your words - If you are saying the dealer are doing for the good of owners and not for any benefit for themselfs ie Marketing, Sales more customers on there database! Dont take it so personally dealers beleive it or not are in this business for money. Also thanks I'm enjoying every minitue of the audi feels really good not being in a mass produce car.

Kish/Adrien

Thank yo very much for organising today, good excuse to meet a few people and have a chat. inspection was useful as I always like to have a look under the car. Report suggested all was well other than "tyres worn" - I am running MPSC!!

Thanks again.

It was nice to see a few new faces and people getting their cars checked out today. The OPC staff were helpful and friendly, and I think everyone appreciated the fact that the checks were free! The test drives were popular, and it was a good chance to drool over the new metal in the showroom and make a mental note of my wish list!!! [:)] All in all a great day.

Taking a look...

Hi Earl,
I organise the event so I am happy to clarify your concerns/comments: This day was put in the diary some two months ago as a free Health Check by Porsche West London for PCGB members and the date was picked by Adrien and myslef; I approached them and booked this in and also requested if we could add test drive without any buying pressure and they added that in too.

It was some 3 weeks ago they informed me that they are planning to have a used car event and may do it on this weekend; it was just two weeks ago when they confirmed this hence this was only communicated officially in the mailing list and posted on the forum earlier this week (have a look it is not in the Porsche Post).

Anyway, for all those who took advantage of this: I was told they pretty much fixed all the minor issues free of charge on the day and this included: a free oil top up for all; faulty bulb replaced and they found 3 cars (including mine) with only the treble bit of the multi-timbre horns working, this was fixed free of change too.

...and yes, there was some free lunch too (well, snacks & drinks) [;)]

I was informed that every single test drive was a non sell as all the members who took advantage of this stated that they had no plans of buying a new car as yet. They appreciate the honesty as otherwise a lot of time is wasted chasing up individuals who take a test drive for the 'Porsche experience' of it...

Overall, a fantastic day and a good start of building up a healthy relationship with PC West London and PCGB London region members.

They have offered us their car parking space to be used as a start point for any convoy runs we would be planning and if planned-out in advance they can arrange breakfast for us too (free lunch again? [:)]). Goodwood breakfast club convoy would be great but I think we are planning to head out way too early in order to get there before the Beemers...

Feedback for the event most welcomed either by PM to me or on the forum.

Blue Skies,
Kish

PS: The "No free lunch" bit is to build relations with PCGB Porsche owners and the hope that we will buy the next Porsche from them or get the car services/repaired there... watch this space for more such events!

Many thanks to Kish and Adrien for arranging this, and to OPC west London for their hospitality and facilities. Another good day out and a chance to test drive the Cayenne Turbo S as well [:)] [:)]

I don't think OPC see a lot of the older models in their workshops and so can be a bit shell-shocked when confronted with them .... Here's the story of what happened ...

r20opc_a1.jpg

Blimey, what have we got here then ? Is it a bird, or a plane ? Which way does it go on the ramp ? Get the history book out ....

r20opc_a2.jpg

"What are you doing ?" " I'm looking to check the engine oil, but you don't seem to have an engine ??" [&:]

r20opc_a3.jpg

"I think you'll find the engine is at the other end.." [8|]

r20opc_a4.jpg

"Ahh ... there's the bugger !! I think I've found the engine" [:)]. (Feroz, mind the RMS ... ) [:(]

r20opc_a5.jpg

"So what the bloody hell have we got at this end then ?? [:-]"

r20opc_a6.jpg

"Look, no engine [&:]" "Yes, this lot are messing us about. Lets give a warning about brake pipe corrosion ...""
"There's another one over there that drove in without any spark plug leads [:(]"

r20opc_a7.jpg

"This is well spooky"

r20opc_a8.jpg

"What kind of witchcraft is this ? " [:D]

r20opc_a9.jpg

"Look - he must be the ring leader" "Right, lets get our own back, I've got an Idea ... Didn't he say he was the Boxster registrar ?"

r20opc_a10.jpg

"Let's get the new facelift Cayenne .... "

r20opc_a11.jpg

"And put that Boxster personalised registration number on that he was asking for ..." [;)]

r20opc_a12.jpg

"... and get the muppet out on a test drive in it" [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

r20opc_a13.jpg

"Then we'll get the owner of that 924S to make up her own new brake pipes on our OPC brake pipe making jig" [:D] [:D] [:D]

r20opc_a14.jpg

"Then we'll get the one with no spark leads out in the Cayenne Turbo S to show him how much faster it is than his Range Rover"

r20opc_a15.jpg

"And finally we'll remind that other one about the article that James May wrote the other week about blokes in a Boxster with the roof down" [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

Sorry guys, I couldn't resist ROFLMFARO. [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

The rest of the pictures are now uploaded HERE http://www.cannell3.co.uk/R20%20OPC%200706.htm

Rick fantastic photos as always, but I don't see the photo of the RUF 997 Turbo we saw in the car park when we were just about to leave? [:(]

Ah yes, the 997 RUF ...... It's a bit disguised at the moment but you can still make out the sleek lines and get an idea of what's to come ... [:D] [:D] [:D]

OMG that facelift Cayenne .. glad I have an "old"one :)

Ah, but this has a much improved turning circle and gives you much better MPG
...AND more importantly: you can pee on the wheel as long as you have one hand on the car :ROFLMAO:

AND it's the first 4x4 designed to piss Livingston off - it's congestion charge exempt and you can even use bus lanes [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]
