Save Croft Circuit

Croft is an danger of closure owing to complaints from just three people. There is a Facebook group about this called Save Croft Circuit and there's a Government Petition with currently 5000+ signatures.

Perhaps a few people here would like to sign the petition, and maybe admin could duplicate this post throughout all the forums?

If you've never been there, Croft is a great circuit, it would be a great shame to lose it. But the danger is of course that this could escalate through the country when moaning residents near other circuits get wind of what's happened at Croft.

On the other hand, I was recently told by someone at Bruntingthorpe that they have just won an appeal in the High Court (at a cost of £250K!) and had a noise abatement order overturned. So there must me a case for overturning the court order on Croft.

Apparently there is a deadline of 3 April to sign the Government Petition re Croft - so come on guys, get signing!

When you read the history of the people complaining its a weird decision Duly signed up!

Signed. Here's a direct link for the petition (Tim's link above appears to go to facebook first) http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/saveCroft/

ORIGINAL: h_____ Can you confirm the decision around brunters, are they open for general testing now?
I was told they still have to be careful with noise as there is still an ongoing issue. With a colleague I'm planning to run some car control courses there and we've been told we can do it. The guy there told me he gets calls from the local council on a regular basis saying they have received complaints.... on numerous occasions he has taken such calls from a council official saying someone has just called and complained about the noise from the proving ground and his genuine response has been ' Really? That's odd because we have nothing running today!' These are the lengths these idiots will go to! Short answer is, yes, he told me general testing was on, but still with noise limits. But don't take my word as concrete; the thing to do is call them and enquire: 0116 247 8030.

That's weird! I tested the link straight after I made the post and it worked, and I've just tried it again and it worked... i.e. went straight to the petition page! Anyway, I've edited the link now to remove the Facebook code.

Thanks Tim, they always did have noise limits, but not too strict, interestingly, we always tripped the meter on tyre noise doing autotests as opposed to engine noise. And I think all the complainers are a few retired people in the village at the far end of the runway. Very sad!

No prob. Yes tyre noise was the potential problem for us with the skid stuff but we've sorted that out.
