Hi all, nice forum you have here,
I wanted to say hi, and hopefully get help with a slightly obscure technical question.
I'm the happy new owner of a 1995 pre-varioram 993 C2 coupe. 50K miles and seemingly pampered, and I'm planning to do the decent thing and keep it nice...
It's my first Porsche - previous "fun" cars have mostly been Audis (TT, RS4 and an RS6) and BMWs (I still have an M3 CSL - just too good to sell). Apologies for the heresy. I've attached a pic of the 993. So far I really like it, and absolutely see why everyone seems to love their 993 so much.
My obscure question is as follows. To replace the rather disco-garish Alpine stereo, and get back to the OEM look, I've bought a CDR210 from the US. Currently somewhere mid-Atlantic on its way to me. (I would have preferred a UK CDR21 obviously, but they seem quite hard to find). Anyway it seems that one of the few differences between the CDR210 and the CDR21 is that the FM frequency steps are 200 kHz for the US and 100 kHz for the UK model. Various forum posts here and on Rennlist tantalisingly say that it is possible to instruct the CDR210 to use the smaller frequency steps, but I haven't yet found a post that explicitly says how you do it... (I have also read the CDR210's user manual - no luck).
So the question is: please can someone tell me how to program a CDR210 to use 100 kHz frequency steps on the FM band? I assume it's some kind of "cheat code" sequence / combination of button presses, since I can't find mention of a proper menu option.
Many thanks in advance for any help on this.
Cheers, Richard.
