SC Central Locking

I'd like to fit central locking to my 83 SC. All I want is for the passenger door to unlock when I open my door with the key.
Is this an easy/cheap mod or otherwise?

Cheers

Doug

If you want to do this yourself Doug the best way forward is to get a wiring diagram and source the parts from a breakers, there should be plenty of kit out there, personally I think it will be more trouble than it's worth.

I sold a kit I had for a two door car on ebay and there are always lots listed. I bought the kit originally from Halfords. The problem in fitting the kit was the door was the cables offered to much resistance, I took them out and oiled them (they worked so much better I never bothered with the kit). The one from Maplins almost identical and should work fine. The later cars have very different mechanisms so it is very difficult retro fit the newer systems, I think one of the after market kits may be easier to fit as they are very general fittements.

Mine's got central locking, thought this was standard on late SC's to be honest. The aftermarket kits are an easy fit, have used them on old Jags and stuff in the past. Put a 2-door kit in a V8 Capri a few weeks back, so handy having 'plip' central locking.

Thanks guy's,
an aftermarket two door kit seems like the simplest answer. Gives me a chance to waxoil the doors when I'm in there! [;)]

Just a little tip, 911 doors are designed to let water in from the outside, so when you look into the bottom of the door you will see two drain holes , make sure these are clear. Also Originally there was a plastic film fitted to the door before the trim was fitted. Get yourself a sheet of polythene from say a DIY shop and some carpet glue, spray the door with the glue and then fit the plastic to the door and fit the trim cutting out the screw holes etc.,it keeps all the moisture out of the cabin and protects your door panels which are just made of hardboard.

Steady with the waxoil in there Doug does as Mark says and simply get some plastic sheet cut it to the original template you should have in there and hey presto. I found some plastic sheet wandering aroung B&Q on some large containers , I just asked if I could have it, it's ridiculously pricey from Porsche.
