Sc on ebay

Nope. The wheels are completely wrong and look awful in my view - SCs look great on Fuchs and the respray looks a bit vibrant. The owner couldn't be bothered to spend £12 on a new door handle and "does his own servicing". He owns up to "a few drops of oil on the drive". That's engine rebuild time, then.

Run away. Very far away.

I'd actually say it looks worth viewing. The guy seems fairly honest in his description and there is a full service history by independents apart from the last one. A set of 7's & 8's Fuchs can be had for £5-600 and you'd get something back for the existing wheels.

As for the oil drips there's not many that don't and an inspection would determine whether it's actually a problem, eg snapped studs etc.

All in all we're not looking at a 12K SC, the guy would probably take a bid of half that and if it's as rust-free as he says (in all the important places) it could be a nice buy.

Go see it if it's not a million miles away!

well my old sc i have been caning around for 3 years drips on the drive... starts on the button and has been to lemans twice ...and again this year
so no engine rebuild here yet,

i have looked at the add and thought it looked good value in fact i thought it was a bargain the guy seems genuine

£6600 if i was looking i would have had a punt

tks for the reply phil. i also wondered what what he was on about so have asked him to explain. my interest is in a targa which is why i noticed it. mileage i didnt know if was a consideration for a car of that age? my thinking was that ot was all down to service history?

There are thin metal plates between the cylinders, that help to direct the air flow to the cylinders, these rust, crumble and become less effective over time and stainless steel versions would be worth putting on if the engine was removed for any reason. I've no idea who Turbo Thomas are, it sounds a little corny so maybe it is a European based outfit but it suggests they have made the exhaust, I would research that more, a poorly made exhaust can embarrass you because it is too loud and/or spoil the performance. otherwise, it doesn't look to bad. i reckon a good straight Guards Red model is worth about 8K. As always hidden rust is the problem with these cars, mileage at this age is irrelevant, more important is a large folder of invoices adding up to millions! [:(]

i thought the galvanised body wud prevent the rust problem being too bad. ill ask about the service details. these be used during winter and regulary do u think?
