SC Wheel Compatibility

Does anyone have information about which Porsche alloy wheels (from other Porsche Models), will fit an 83 SC? I'm particularly interested in Cup alloys with black centres to replace my original fitment cookie cutters. I know bolt pattern, offset and rim diameter all need to be taken into account, but is there an easy-to-follow chart available online anywhere, or at a reputable independent company's website?

Thanks for any help.
Rich

A few people have put Twists and Cup wheels on SC's, Kevin (mkrjblue on here) runs some on his Cabriolet, they look good, though at one stage he was talking about going back to Fuchs:

Rich I don't know of an online chart to help you. The best I can suggest is to ring around the usual suppliers and get the dimensions of the spacers you will need with the correct offset. I run 17" rims on my SC with no fouling problems. I chose to use replica wheels and so far I haven't had any problems. You should be able to fing some good genuine used Porsche rims but new spacers will be expensive. Once you have the correct size you need call the breakers or try America for competitive prices. We just get ripped off over here for new Porsche parts.

Not going down the 930 path then?

Tim,

There's serious issues with the 930 fitting down my narrow driveway. See my post HERE. As we all do in these situations - I'm just weighing up the pro's and con's, Head Vs Heart, etc, etc. In the meantime I was planning a few little projects on the SC ready for when the sun comes out.

Just as a matter of interest, is your 930 still available? It sounds very nice in your write-up - have you had much interest? And would you be interested in a part ex on a 1983 SC Targa?!![:D]

Hi Rich,

Have the drive widened - it will be worth it!

Btw - No probs if you want to meet up and I'll take you for a run.

So far, I have only placed the car here on the forum, pistonheads & 911uk.whatever

I really need to do PP, p911 world & Top Marques. I guess I am not too keen to get rid of her. LOL

Have received a few enquiries, some genuine, some complete time wasters.

Most folks seem to worry about 2 things with a 930:

1. Am I good enough to drive one?
2. Can I afford to keep it on the road (they are just not cheap to run)

Funnily enough, I have not ruled out p/x but was thinking 996 or Boxster S when my co car lease finishes.

Cheers, TC

I've got a 83 SC which has had Boxter Cup wheels put on. The previous owner changed them as he drove another SC and felt the car handled better. As I haven't driven the car with the original wheels on i wouldn't know if theres much difference.

Thanks for the input everybody.

ejgs - do you know what size are your wheels are and do they have spacers to correct the offset?

Wheel sizes are 16"

Have got Bridgestone tyres on 205/55ZR16 on the front and 225/50/ZR16 on the rear

Have got spacers fitted aswell
