SC window rubbers

Does anyone have information on different rubber seals for window glass for SCs. I've heard that 993 quarter glass rubbers will fit in place of the existing rubber and metal but will the original glass fit? Apparently 964 seal will fit rear window but will this also fit existing glass or does it have to be 964 glass? Any other ideas for the front screen glass, or in fact any of the windows whereby the aluminium strips etc can be dispensed with?

Hello there, Ive been askin this for years and always get different answers! This is what i'm running on my 1983 SC at the moment-

964 front screen and seal. Took approx 45 mins to fit on the second attempt, the fitters broke the first screen, blaming an overly tight seal. Both parts were new genuine porsche, i think they were being impatient. No problems with the 2nd screen (used different fitters), been in 6 months. Lots of people recommend only using the 964 screen with the matching 964 rubber. 964 screen and SC rubber won't work.

SC rear screen with 964 seal. Fitted it myself, no problems at all. i don't think it fits as well as the SC seal but haven't seen a pukka 964 yet to compare mine with.

I've got brand new 993 rear 1/4 seals and couldn't get them to fit properly with SC glass. 2 people have told me this will work but i can't see how? I thought 993 glass might be different but my local glass supplier tells me the part number for 911SC, 964 and 993 rear side glass is all the same. Anybody got some helpfull input on this one?? Please!!

Regards, Jon

And another advantage Igues of fitting that screen in an SC is you have an aerial built into the screen. Is it just a bog standard 964 screen and seal then?

Yeah i just used stock 964 parts, no mods at all. But be aware that some fitters don't like the idea of fitting not standard parts (insurance invalidation maybe?) so i just told the woman i had a '91 964 when i booked. Note my car was a bare shell (except the loom) when they fitted the screen so they didn't realise it wasn't a 964.

Thanks chaps, all good stuff and confirms much of what I had heard from other sources. If I go ahead and change I will post the results. Best regards.
