Scissor jack

Does anyone know whether a 996/986 aluminium scissor jack would be suitable for a 993? It seams that genuine 993 jacks are hard to come by except new (and hence expensive). I had a look at a 944 scissor jack and they are larger and the locating knob (the oval bit that slots into the hole in the underside of the car) looks much deeper than a 993 version.

Here is a photo of my 993 jack. The label on it says it is also a fitment for the 928/968.

Hopefully someone with a Boxster or 996 can advise whether their jack is similar.

Thanks for the photos Mark. I did see that style of jack on the 993 parts list as an alternative (in fact there seemed to be a separate one listed for Aus [Austria/Australia?]as well). Perhaps your style was used earlier in the 993 production runs before switching to the scissor type. I had a scissor jack in my previous 1997 C4 and I see you have a 94/95 car.

WB cars use the Scissor Jack, NB cars the jack as above.

You learn something every day. Can we have a pic of the exclusive "S" scissor jack?

My '96 NB car has the same jack as Mark G's.

So, you also have a cloth bag with a shoe lace to close it! I'd assumed some previous owner had added that to my car. I did not dream it was an Official Porsche Shoe Lace.[:D]

I had the same 'shoe bag' in my old C4 and left it in there. If I had realised it was OEM I would have transferred it into my new tt!
