Scottish meet up this Sunday

Hi all, there will be an informal 944 gathering this Sunday at my garage if anyone is wanting to attend. Steve Simkin will be there, Staurt Cameron may be attending as well. All welcome, the kettle will be on the boil all day from 9am.
Alasdair

Will be there with filthy neglected turbo. And a new sill for project rose silver!

Stuart

I'll be there with a spare set of wheels and a 968 steering wheel. And, in an effort to convince my wife that I will meet real people and not virtual porsche owners, I'm bringing along muffins and yum-yums which need to be eaten! [:)]

That's handy, I was going to get in touch with you anyway Alasdair about a few parts.
See you all in the morning.

Oh! can you pm or email address please,

Thanks Alan.

I'll come up as well. See you around 9 ish.I 've got to go and get stuck into my floor in the afternoon[:)]

A big thanks to Alasdair for hosting Todays Scottish 944 meet, and Steve (simkin) who seemed to be designated Tea Boy. Got a few parts I was needing and remembered what else I needed when I got home so will be back up soon.

Good to meet up with everyone and hope to meetup again soon - maybe a 944 get together and run when the better weather comes (see how many 944,s we can get together)

Thanks again Alan.

Yeh thanks Alasdair, was good to chat to other 944 owners; put some names to faces, and have a nosey at the turbo being restored.

cheers

Rick

Yes good day and faces now attached to names! Would be good to sort out our own 944 run sometime soon. Steve's tea making and cake providing was spot on! He's also been out in two turbos today so I expect his gleaming (and it is gleaming) S2 should be on e-bay about now!

Roy's 944T is a belter, definitely one of a kind, and Stuart #2 (Positively Cynical) realised that his distributer cap wasn't the best place to store water in! Colin had to get back to his floorpan (bet it's not done, your mates will zap it when you're not looking!) and Rick (Pastry) got to see how to completely dismantle a sill on project rose silver!

Alan's (Loc944) attempt at following me to the garage (from in front of me I may add!) backfired when I made a quick pitstop and Rory (Scottish944) didn't need to fire up his sat nav as he tagged along with Roy. Good value for all!

Stuart

As mentioned, many thanks to Alasdair for hosting this get together. Was great to meet a few fellow enthusiasts - all good guys - and have a chat. My tea making skills are a simple diversion from my inadequate car mechanic skills. Thanks also to Stuart (Scam75) for the fitting of my new wheel. And, as mentioned, already - I loved my turbo "experience" which was very different from my s2. Both are fantastic examples..... cheers to Stuart and Roy.

Yes, my turbo desire is stronger after today.... but my s2 will be going nowhere. However, I've convinced my wife that it's necessary to have more than one 944 though....

Good to meet you guys and talk 944. Thanks Alasdair . I did manage to get a bit more floor out.

I should be there Alasdair hopefully in my 944 this time, I have decided to fit rear difuser so will be in touch over next couple of weeks.

cheers Alan.

Would love to make one of these although its right decent trek for me but would love to talk 944's for a bit. I do have family down near there so could maybe double it up with a visit to my cousin (maybe take him along as he a car nut also, although he is into classic beemers and scimiters, lol, (but he like 944's), we will need to see. I now am not the only 944 turbo on the island as guy i know just bought a J plate one off ebay (there are now 5 944's up here, 2 turbos, an S2 and couple of luxes I think) and he been up for a visit already as he knows I did sills (sounds familiar way to start 944 ownership) on mine and think he trying to see if I into helping him as his are starting, but be glad to know everybody its another 944 saved from the scrapheap, I know him he will see it through and it be good when done, its worth saving, nice colour, nice interior, LSD and M030 suspension although apparently its knocking!

Hi Alex, where is it you live? Sounds like you could have your own meet with 5 local cars.
You would be made very welcome there 5 Visiting cars + Alasdairs cars and about 10 owners last time hopefully more next time.

Alan.

I'd hope to be there but it's Easter Sunday so there could be a conflict of interests with parents, kids etc!

Stay on Isle of Lewis in the Hebrides, only know the owner of one (that other Turbo), there few porkers up here, but mostly newer stuff in later 911's and boxsters. heard there is a mint Turbo kept in a humidity tent on west side of Island but never seen it, could be a story although the guy involved in this rumour defo used to Run several 944's so might need to look into it, lol, could be good! Maybe make one of these meets yet, at some point, it be fun!
