Scrapped 924's

Paul. Is there any brief record being kept of known scrapped 924's ?

As the years go by and the cars become more 'historic' I suspect previous owners may well contact the club to see if their old cars exist.
Just met a new neighbour at the weekend and in passing he mentioned he had a new 924 once (and recalls having to pay for a broken rear hatch - somewhere around £1000 he reckons !).

According to the service history with mine,my 924 had a replacement hatch from Swinford OPC in 1987 - a whopping 988.27 plus vat!

There is no comprehensive record being kept of 924 that have been scrapped, however I do note in my database when an owner reports a car as written off or dismantled.

I have over 1,500 vehicles on record but this is limited to PCGB members over the years.

There are a couple of resources I use to see if cars are still in circulation but they are very basic.

The main problems are time and resources.

Telford breakers yard of Wrekin Motor Spares
Black 924 22/1/81 - LDA 717W - tax expired 22/1/08
Red 924 - GPA 324Y - not found

Donegal
Gold (Was Bronze) 924 Lux 23/3/81 FTY 163W - tax expired 1/2/05
Gold 924 Lux 1/6/83 - GNF 642Y - tax expired 1/3/03

Will add these 'dead' cars to the database, more please.

Understand the time factor.
Just in case anyone is interested the following two cars are 'dead' in the Telford breakers yard of Wrekin Motor Spares :-

Black 924 LDA 717W
Red 924 GPA 324Y

I got told that the rear hatch on the 924 /44 is the same as one used on some type of Citreon IIRC. Some other car anyway. I'll see if I can find out which one when I see the guy again in late June.

For the guy in Nottingham, there are some scrapped 924's at PH Sports Cars, Cavendish Bridge, Shardlow, South Derbyshire. You can get second hand parts for 924's from them Tel. 01332799298. I got my passenger door switch and electric window mechanism replaced here plus other 'bits and bobs'. He also has some very experienced Porsche mechanics (especially on the older cars) if you can't manage to do any jobs yourself. They have got themselves really organised now (after a very disorganised couple of years) so are well worth trying.

Glad to Hear they're (PH Cars) are Better Organised...As I live about 30 miles away...Made a Journey to Choose One of the "Six Great Wings" (Information they gave me over the phone!) But when I got there, The next day... they didn't have any!
The Chap who Informed me didn't understand why I'd been told they Did!
Nice to Know another Zermatt S is Local!
