Scrapyard Porsche.

An idea for 2008.
If you see a 924 or 944 in a breakers yard (and have had any bits you may need) why not mention it on here in order to possibly help other members? You'll see a new member, Guido, has just posted that he is looking for parts.

Early on in the ownership of my first 924 I spotted on another forum that someone had seen a 924 in a Telford scrapyard. A visit that week secured quite a number of very useful spares.

Last year my local breaker in Welshpool had both a 924 and a 944 for months and virtually sold nothing off them before having them crushed .

Would it also be of interest to the Registrar to know registration numbers - so that in another 10 years when 924's are selling for £000's [;)] - and he gets an enquiry from a previous owner he can break the bad news! ?

These guys always have a quite a few Porsches when I go past there, esp 924/944/928's but they get 911's too:

3 miles from Montgomery but just on the Shropshire side of Offa's Dyke!

We'll have to meet up for a pint and a natter in the New Year/This Year.

Wonder if these are the people who put this photo on eBay ? I was not interested in a crash-damaged helicopter but noticed multiple Porsches in the racks!

Their eBay name was juliegbsek and they gave their address as Chorley.

? Same people ?

That's definitely them. They actually have a two 1/2 decent looking early 911's on Pistonheads right now, a water damaged Targa and Couple with a offside damage. I bought some wheels for a 924S off them and they seemed fair, which reminds me I have 3 teledials still I could do with getting shut of (2x16") and 1x15"), I'll dig them out if anyone's interested.

Ref. water damaged cars. There are still quite a number of flood damaged cars emerging [;)] on the salvage websites such as Hales, Hewitts and others.

I was looking at a TDI Passat on Hales website that was described as "Running, has keys."
It STILL had pools of water in the footwells. Mentioned it to my local breaker and he said " It may be running now but they have a nasty habit of going bang a few weeks after resuming use". He had recently been using a 'flood salvage' as a runabout, ran quietly and smoothly until after 1500 miles it put a rod through the block. He said it was the second time he'd had that sort of thing happen.

Thanks Muddy, thats a great idea....I am spending quite a bit of time touring these places at the moment so will keep my eyes open...

Just a quick note-i have a donor car on my drive(much too my wifes disgust!!) that i bought for the interior, it is mechanically sound and with good bodywork & engine!! if any body needs owt-just ask and avoid overinflated scrap yard prices!! come and rob it 4 free!! i live near witney, oxfordshire, ie near eynsham hall, stow (glos)etc!!! rather see it go to someone who needs it than a scrappy!!!
just ask and i will remove the part til you can collect-
