Hi i have a 997 s 2005.

when i first start the engine it makes a screeching noise for a second, then if i switch it off and start it agon it does it onec more then on the third time it does not do it.

Any one got any ideas as to what this might be.

Id be very grateful for your advice.

I had this from my 996 carrera and also have heard it from my 997s also, now and again, it sounds like a screetch? only lasts about 1 second. I have heard that also.
I also have this on my Boxster thats been there for years, so i dont think its anything to worry about.
I have also seen loads of forums about this to.

Sounds like a starter motor sticking - but there again someone is bound to point out that Porsches don't have starter motors [;)]

Belt Screech from A/C belt or Alternator belt? That will usually clear that quickly.
