Screen wash tank removal?

Guest

New member
I need to remove the screen wash water tank to replace the lower pump for the windscreen jets, I've undone the two screws but it won't budge. Has anyone done this?

In my earlier 924 I removed mine to check it and clean it and took the opportunity to do so when it was in a friends garage and up on the ramp.
We took the off-side wheel off and the tank then comes downwards - be warned it is fiddly!
I would think it is possible to do on level ground with the car jacked up. You might get away with the wheel turned on full-lock but I haven't tried that way.
From Memory (notoriously bad!) there is a further bracket underneath that also has to be removed - it's in the way of all the road cack thrown up and the screws / bolts / nuts were all corroded - we cut them off and replaced them with stainless ones from a yachting job that was being done in the other half of the workshop!! :)

Cheers Steve,
It seems that i'll need to take out the inner plastic arch liner and wheel to get to the bottom of the tank. More hassle than its worth!
Thank for your help.[:)]

Yes that would be needed - LOL - the 924's or the 944 I owned last year didn't have the luxury of wheel arch liners.
Actually you've reminded me that my headlight washers have stopped working - <sigh> - another thing to add to the list.
Think I might have to go and do a Saturday morning in my mates garage again....
Lifts - they sure as hell make it easier to work underneath. :)

Cheers

Thanks again. The headlamp washer pump is the easier one to change, i wish they were the otherway round[;)]
