Screen Washer Motor Not Working

Hello Chaps,

Re: Very late (J reg) 944 Turbo.

A blast from the past from Me!

I did a pre-MoT check a while ago and the screen washer motor does not work. The headlamp washer motor does work.

I spent quite a while looking for a fuse and came to the conclusion, in the end, that there isn't one. Am I right?

So I decided to get the pump out and check it. Easy I thought "just these two screws and the whole bottle assembly will lift out". No! It's a very funny shape.

I have syphoned out (most) of the water. Removed the motor that drives the R/H headlamp up and the electrical connectors to both pumps but it won't come out because of a thick insulated pipe to the headlamp system from the healamp wsher pump.

Am I going about this the right way? Any help or advice appreciated.

Robbie,
It may come out from underneath, check Clarkes Garge website that will tell you i am sure.

A little trick I discovered by accident for washer pumps in cars which sit idle a lot of the time... try flashing 12v on them in the wrong direction. I have had a couple of seemingly seized pumps whereby jolting it backwards before trying it again forwards was enough to unseize it, whereafter it worked perfectly.

Might save you a dismantling job!

Mine stopped working recently (windscreen and headlamp, too) and it was traced to a dodgy earth connection.
