A few years ago I had the opportunity to buy a 1983 944 for a 'song' with a blown engine and a variety of other niggles. The car is now a daily driver and to date I have sorted the motor, replaced the dash (usual cracking-up issues) with an original in much better condition together with a host of other new bits. So the final stand-out problem with the interior was the trim.
Basically the front seats were shot, split cloth etc. and the previous owner's dog had been playing with the back seats so the only answer was a complete re-cover. Earlier this year I spotted an example leather seat at Silverstone being shown by Dave Roberts of Custom Car Trim and that seemed the way to go. So a few conversations and a trip to Coventry and I now have a full leather trim front & back, a far better look/feel to the interior and a much nicer smell as well"¦!
Would happily recommend Dave, the quality of the work is great and he was more than happy to discuss the various trim options. We even looked into getting hold of the original cloth that was in the car to put things back to original cloth & vinyl - however the cost of the cloth was prohibitive so we went with the all leather approach - have to say looking at things now this was the right way to go.
