Seat height adjustment

My drivers electric seat height adjustment no longer works... no problem as the height was fine until I took the seats out of the car recently to swap the backs over.
When I moved the bases I heard a clicking noise, but couldn't work out what it was.
On putting the seats back in the car the height is now higher, so the noise must have been the height adjust motors extending manually when the base was lifted.
The height is still OK for me but might cramp someone considerably taller.
So does anyone know if the height can be adjusted back down again manually?
I don't want the hassle and possible expense of getting the electrics repaired at the moment, although I'm told it is probably only the switches.

Steve, you can do it but not easily and you will have to take the seat out again. The system works by a motor at the front of the seat, connected to a flexible shaft (like a thick bicycle brake cable) that leads to a 'lifter' at the back of the seat.

Years ago my shaft came out of the motor and when I reconnected it the levels were all wrong. It's just a case of pulling the shaft out of the motor and turning it with some pliers until the rear lifter is at the correct height
