Seat Lever / Adjuster (broken in 10 mins of ownership)

Aaaarh! I've owned an '01 Boxster for probably ten minutes and in that time, the first bit has snapped (making the car feel like "damaged goods" and unwanted even before I've had the fun of getting used to it, can anybody help me (the garage certainly didn't)

I gentely lifted the lever to adjust the drivers seat (to lower it), seat shot down, lever emanated an unfortunate snapping noise, seat ended up at its lowest position and lever now swings around doing nothing thus I can't engage the ratchet or whatever it is to raie it again nor have the satisfaction of owning a car with its "bits working" or being comfortable to drive.

NOT HAPPY!

Garage explained this is not a warrnty item and that the car would need to come in for a "per hour charge" fix.... I've only had the thing 10 minutes and can't afford to have the seat taken out and / or hours of mechanics time.

Any thoughts / ideas / suggestions of how I can re-engage the level or fix the seat (adjust it)

No comments on what to do or say to the garage please, that's not going to help as I've already thought of all the rude words!

you would probably need to take it out to have a good look at it to find out whats happened with it , if you have the tools to do it ,i t has 4 bolts holding it down, the front covers on the runners slide off,

if not happy doing it yourself call into an indy who will probably have a quick look at if for you

Many thanks, I feared as much but I was hoping that somebody could tell me of a "magic way" of getting at the lever from the side panel without taking the seat out (I live in a land of dreams)

BOTHER... I guess I will have to have the seat out in less then 24hrs of owning the wretched thing :-(

Appreciate your comment & swift reply though
