Seat Removal

Good evening all (two questions on the trott)

Could anyone advise what the procedure is for removal the seats as I am looking to do a little leather restoration.

What size bit, and what I need to do with regards to electrical connectors etc...

its easy i did it on my own - but get help removing seats from car as they are heavy. i scratched my sills. Juts need a spanner for four bolts - remove clips covering plastic on front runners , push seat forward remove back bolts, then remove front 2 bolts. you can unhook the plastic catch and then pull the electrical plugs apart under seat.

I am sure someone will send you photos

You need an E12 Torx socket for the bolts.

Similar to Meng, I slid the seat forwards, removed the rear bolts, then slid it back and removed the front bolts. Under the seat there is a single connector (non-electric seats). Recline the seat forwards a bit, to make it easier to lift out. Then tip the seat back, and remove the connector. It has a slider arrangement, which separates plug and socket as you pull on the slider. Once you see it, you will see what I mean. Then you can "just" lift the seat out.

Once you have done it once, it is a 10 minute job. If you happen to knock the fore-aft lever when it is out of the car, make sure the spring is hooked back on the brackets, and that the runners are in the correct position before you refit it.

Id disconnect the battery and don't reconnect it till the connectors and seat are back in too.

A light on the dash or an air bag in the face can be quite annoying.

It won't put the airbag light on. That only happens on a US car, where the belt buckle is connected to the airbag circuit. On RoW cars, it is not connected. The only exception is if you have a child seat deactivation bar, in which case the buckle for this is connected by a separate cable.

On RoW cars (inc UK) there are only connections for power, heat and memory functions (if fitted). There is a connection to the instrument cluster for the seatbelt warning light, but it is only on USA/Canada cars that it is connected to the airbag module.
