Seatbelt light

My seatbelt light flickers on and off now and then. What activates it?

I have had the interior out and didn't find any connectors on the seatbelt clip or seat so how does it work? It did this before the interior was out for welding.

I could just unplug it but would prefer it to work correctly.

On early cars its timed I believe. Series two cars have a sensor: the anchor is mounted on the seat runner and the drivers seat is always connected to the wiring harness.
