Seating problems

My front driver's electric seat has not been working since I bought the car. There is clearly a loose wire that needs re soldered under the seat but I can't get to it as the seat is set as low to the floor as it will go. Is there any way to manually raise the seat or turn the motor. Any tips on which wires go where on a 1989 944 with electric but not heated seats. Thanks JC

If you remove the front motor cover there will be an allen headed adjuster. Do you mean that you cant remove the seat because its current position blocks (some of) the six fixing bolts?

Six allen bolts holding it in. Series one cars had four fixings, but it was increased to six in the series two cars because the seatbelts are mounted on the seats. If the seat has electrical fore and aft adjustment then it wont be quite a straightforward, though.

Sweet, thanks for the advice, seat is now working again and I drove to work this morning with a clear view over the steering wheel for a change. Thanks. JC

Very easy to remove seat but just some advice it's probably the switch that's gone faulty (or it was on my car) and rebuilding it is the most fiddly, unpleasant experience I have ever suffered. I Don't think I ever got it back together right!
