Interesting. So the official next-generation 911 model designation is "997-2"?

I would think "PDK Transmission" were the magic words!!!

I think it's the end of the M96/97 engine as we know it. My guess is that it will have direct injection, and who would be surprised if the crankcase was redesigned in the area of the RMS? Having flicked through the PET (which only contains "initial stock parts"), a lot of the ancillaries are different too - airbox, the oil filter and housing are on top of the engine, auxillary belt and tensioner, camshaft actuators, water pump, etc, etc.
Not AFAIK.

Nice find Richard, do you have any other official info from the PET system with regards to engine specs?
No, it's all a bit sketchy at the moment - just details of initial spares for dealers. There is much more detail in the Rennteam info. I'll keep my eyes peeled though.
It looks like they have done away with the intermediate shaft altogether on the new engine - chain drive direct from crank to cams. New crankshaft and crankcase, eliminating the RMS issue I expect. New air/oil separator, filler tube, and a few other bits that caused problems.
