Security - Cat 1?

Its my insurance renewal time again - 1 year of Boxster ownership has gone so fast!!!!

My broker (Adrian Flux) state that the manufacturers standard security alarm/immobiliser fitted to my car is a Thatcham Category 1 approved system. I just wanted to check this out for myself, especially knowing how particular the insurance companies are if you ever have the misfortune of needing to make a claim.

Does anyone know if this is correct? Or is there any way of finding out for sure?

Many thanks

Yes.

On the general subject of insurance, you should check out Elephant.co.uk - having checked Flux and my last insurer, Performance Marques, for a quote on my 2000 2.7 I saved £150, which is more than worthwhile for the little effort involved. I'm now paying just over £300. (full ncb +5yrs, 7000 miles p.a., "over 40" yr. old. male)

I got that rate through confused.com, and for the record I'm not in the pay of any of the above.

Hope that's useful info.

Hi

ref Elephant, you need to be carefull I think regarding "optional" extras as these are not covered in the event of a total loss - eg 17" wheels if you have them, plus any other options on the car - they will only cover the base car, but will load you for "options" as they make the car "more attractive to thieves"
