Seeking Steering Wheel Refinishing Recommendations

I have an SportDesign steering wheel fitted to my 2014 Cayman and I’m contemplating refurbishing it as the alcantara covering is somewhat past its best and is “bobbling”.

Whilst I’ve considered leaving it be to preserve its “authentic charm” I seem to be leaning more towards a refurbishment (with the addition of a yellow 12 o’clock marker).

I’m looking for recommendations from fellow members for someone in the northern region with a good reputation to undertake the work. Can any of the guys and gals here offer suggestions please?

Peter

The company I have heard most good things about is https://royalsteeringwheels.com/ They are based near Oxford but do offer a quick turnaround service, so possibly worth a call. I do not have pesonal knowledge of any in the north east, so hopefully someone may come along with a recommendation.

Royal steering wheels are excellent. They will send you a steering wheel and you return your old one to them. Brilliant service and quality.

Dan.

I don’t know of anyone in the north but I endorse what John and Dan have said. I used Royal Steering Wheels several years ago and the quality of work and their service was excellent.

Hi Peter,

Here’s another possible supplier, although unfortunately South of England based:

They do some quality stuff, and I’m thinking about using them to cover my centre console with leather to match the remainder of the interior. Expensive [c£1k], but probably cheaper than purchasing a direct replacement from Porsche.🤔
