sat behind it for 5 minutes without realising it was a 997. only realised when it turned right in front of me and i caught a glimpse of the front - so i doubled back to have a look..

i can honestly say that without a 996 as a reference, i could not tell it was a 997 until up really close.

looks quite nice in a modern car sort of way, but I think I'd buy a LHD993RS and an old Merc E55 estate for the same money and have far more fun

Agree.

I followed one along the Cromwell Road on Friday and thought it was a C4S until I saw the wheels.

[;)]It may look similar but it sure does drive in a completely new fashion and of course "step inside luv" and it's a whole new ball game :ROFLMAO:

I drove a new 997 S for about 50-60 miles earlier in the week,,,there are some improvements in refinement and handling from a 996 facelift, less patter at the front end and grip was incredible, despite the noise from the huge 19" tyres....inside was different and i found some of the switchgear awkward to use...i was left with the impression that it was a very competent modern coupe a credible rival to the SL or even a DB9 at a budget price.....I then drove my RS for about 1/2 an hour ,,,the level of communication from the car was so much better.....I will not be revisiting new Porsche ownership again for some time.
