Seen this? Gen 2 PDK v Datsun v AM v R8

Yup! Agree with most of that! Having recently driven a 997.2 S PDK I found that, if anything, the nose went lighter on acceleration than previous models. It's a shame because everyone who dislikes 911's seems to do so for that reason alone (J.C. et al). I did find it very unnerving - especially as it was such an expensive car! I can't say that I've noticed the same thing to such a degree in my 2003 996 - maybe because I've got the 10mm lowered suspension...?
Still love to have a 997 but would wait until they've tweaked it bit first I think.

Interesting Adrian. With the 3 PASM settings , normal, Sport(10mm lower) and Sport+(20mm lower) I have found the 997.2 less "noddy" than the 1 and to me, with my humble abilities never feels less than really planted whichever mode is on. Maybe the one you drove needs a visit to CG! (Taking mine along in March btw).
Interesting too that the figures from the vid gave a 0-60 in 3.9! I think they might have been a bit slow off the mark starting the watch. [;)] Any thoughts from the Gen 2 chaps on the front end under acceleration? Difference between the 2 and 4 also?

Can't work out if he actually did the timed lap with PCM off and Sport Plus on - from the commentary, it seemed he only switched them off at the end. But it did appear to be a lot more of a handful to drive than the other three.

Certainly with Sport+ on and presume in "auto" rather than "manual". Judging by the "lively" handling prob PSM off too![:)] Got my first track day in March so will let you know, not that my driving will test anything to near the limit![:(] Good in car video, I thought too.

I don't know he was working very hard in that R8 as well. He was taking two or three bites at the accelerator on almost every corner with the R8. Great vid though. Just goes to show that even though the GT-R is supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread that the margins are pretty slim between all the cars. I do think that it is cheating slightly assuming the other three cars are on normal road tyres and the GT-R is on semi slicks. To be a 100% apples for apples comparison they should have replaced the GT-R rubber with normal road tyres. You're only talking 3 & 4 seconds per lap quicker than the R8 and 997 respectively and you could easily shave that off with semi slicks.

Yes, Scott, I thought that too. He seemed closer to coming off the black stuff in the R8 than any of the others. Being a bit slow on the uptake I was not aware of the vids on the drivers republic website and checked out some more today. Generally very well done I thought with good insight into the things we want to know about (unlike Fifth Gear!!)
