Seized brake nipples

My Jan 2009 Gen 2 Boxster S had it's MOT recently which it passed with no problem - whilst it was at the garage (not a Porsche Centre) I asked them to change the brake fluid whilst it was in. Got a phone call to say that all the nipples were seized and they'd managed to shear off one of the nipples. They were reluctant to do anything as they were wary that Easyout might not fix it and they didn't want to put heat on my painted callipers which I can quite understand.

The car has only done 15,000 miles and it had a brake fluid change in April 2011 (at 8,300 miles) so I wouldn't have expected the nipples to have seized.

The car is still under the Porsche Approved Warranty - would this be covered and what are my options to getting this sorted?

always tricky claiming a warranty on some thing some one else has broken.

did the garage refit a new one to the one they broke ?

I'm surprised that the nipples have seized after only 2 years Trevor.

I'd contact the PC to get their advice as to whether or not you're covered by the extended warranty, particularly if the last brake fluid change was performed by them or another PC.

I seem to recall a recent poster on this forum reporting that he had to have a new caliper when the nipple sheared, which sounded a bit drastic to me.

OK thanks for that, I agree it does seem strange that they've seized after 2 years, brake fluid was changed April 2011 by Porsche Centre. I'll take it up with my local PC.

I did the same thing on mine.

The problem is alloy callipers are bastereds, and you can't heat paint.

I just left it. :)

I think front callipers are circa £400. [:-]
