Selling Advice (Possibly) Required

Hello all,

It breaks my heart to say it, but it looks like there is a possibility I'm going to have to sell my S2 soon as we have a baby on the way and experimentation with prams and baby seats has so far been unsuccessful.

I've been having a look around to get some idea of price, but any help would be much appreciated. She's an 89 944 S2, 114000 miles, black with 968 door handles, mirrors and rear hatch/spoiler. Big folder of bills and invoices going back 10 years, serviced by Porsche up to late last year when I started using Camtune. Just had 12k service, I've spent £2k in the last year making sure everything is sorted. Cambelt changed at 100k, new front disks and pads, new Contis on all four corners. Full cream leather interior, and to top it off an as-new Porsche CS steering wheel. Excellent condition, and highly polished :).

In fact, typing this all out is making it even more painful :(. Hopefully I can come up with a cunning plan...

Any help much appreciated,

Matthew

I'm going to start buying condoms for all future 944 owners, far too many of you are selling because of babies [8|] We brought up two boys with just a tiny Metro boot, so I think a 944 boot would be a luxury (though I do know how fashionable, stylish and wierdly shaped modern buggies are).

Actually, now I think about it I am wondering if modern day baby equipment design is actually secretly sponsored by the huge people carrying car manufacturers [] so that we have to sell our proper cars [;)]

Congrats on the baby (it really will change your life), and back to the actual question. I think a mint S2 with perfect body, interior and history will be circa £8k, an awful dog will be circa £2k and everything else will be in the middle. Every car MUST be judged individually.

Thanks Paul, sage advice :). I think you might be on to something about the size of baby stuff, particularly prams - I've been amazed at the near-4x4 nature of some of the things.

However, we may have come upon a couple of solutions to the space problem. The main thing causing problems now is getting a suitable baby seat for the first nine months or so. But with a bit of luck hopefully I won't have to sell my proper car [;)]

Maybe because I'm a woman and a mother but I cannot see the slightest problem with finding a baby seat and pram/buggy that will fit with room to spare. Ask a womans advice.

We've just had a baby so our 944 is in the garage at the moment!

We hunted high and low for baby seats to fit a 944 and were advised by Recaro that you cannot fit a rear facing baby seat into the rear seats of a 944. You can fit a forward facing seat, but as already mentioned you cannot really fit your baby in this until he/she is 9 months old.

As for boot space you can easily get a travel system and travel cot in there with room to spare.

My best effort to date included:

A mountain bike
A crate of Czech lager
A full bag of cricket gear
2 rucksacks
walking gear
My wife's luggage for a week away ( sizeable! ).

If you can manage it, run another car for the next 9 months. That's our plan.

Good luck.

Dave.
