Selling car via Porsche indi as agent??

Hi guys and girls,

Just wanted to ask a quick bit of advice re selling my 997S as unfortunately we have just had another baby and five into four seats won't go.
I got offered a reasonable £32,500 by an OPC and about the same from a few other well known Porsche indies. I think they would seel it on for about 39-40k. I think I could prob sell privately for up to 35k.

But been offered a deal from a well respected indi where they will sell my car as an agent on a sale or return. They take a small fee up front and a percentage of the sale price which would leave me with about £36,500. This appears a good deal to me as I get more money and none of the hassle of selling privately. Just wanted any feedback from others that have thought or gone down this route before I commit.

Thanks

Perhaps you would not wish your new son/daughter to see this post when they are older?

In general it is a good way to sell a car painlessly. The only risk you run is with a shop that might go bankrupt while holding your car - you have to be clear as to how they have it on their books and what kind of security you have against creditors taking it against unpaid debts.

The main problem with Sale or Return is that you do not know how long you may have to wait for your car to be sold. With an outright purchase by a dealer you have the money straight away which most people need to put towards another car and/or to clear finance.
The notes from this site http://www.911virgin.com/porsche/sellusyourcar/ on "Selling to a dealer" may be worth a read.

Thanks for all the replies and advice, all taken on board. Will see how get on with the meeting this week and let interested parties know how I get on. I have another car to use for the time being so will give it a while to way up my options, may see what happens to prices when the next 911 comes out in 2011.

Indi is one of leading in uk and been around decades

Spec of mine is black/black tip 2S. Would be easier to say what it hasn't got really as was very fussy when bought it, spec wise loaded apart from sport crono and parking sensors. full porsche service centre and 22,000 miles on 55 plate.
