Selling price for my 993 Targa

z2015

New member
I am quite close, finally, to selling my car and ordering a 997.
I would be very grateful for members advice on how much the car it is worth.
Brief details as follows:
1997 Targa, R reg, ocean blue, manual, unmodified
40000 miles
1 previous owner
Always serviced at OPC each year
Sports seats
Some paint chips on bonnet chips

Thank you

Make sure your car in so clean you could eat your dinner off it. Take off anything that personalises the car to you. Remember there is a sizable lump of margin in the new car, especially now Porsche have cut the dealers out. You can always come down in price on yours but never up. Don't be put off by an indifferent attitude to your asking p/x price, there is not a car dealer in the land who does not want your business.
Good luck
Peter

I'd say this should sell for at least £28-£30k. Spring will be a better time.

Similar cars are up for £32-£34k at dealers.

It will sell easily privately I'd imagine- don't p/x unless it's a last resort.

As said above, make sure it is really clean and presents well. Asssume the buyer will do a ppi, so expect that any issues will be picked up- best to get them sorted first.

When I bought a similar car in Jan this year, it was the sheaf of bills the owner produced in a proper file which impressed me- I just knew from what a thorough chap he was that the car had been properly looked after.

Good luck!
Robert

Many thanks for your advice . I feel its time to move on but frequently think "how could I possibly enjoy a 997 more than my targa"!

I think that is worth bearing in mind- for the many extra ££££ you would spend on the 997 will you have twice as much fun out of it?

Robert,
Thank you very much for your interest it is much appreciated. Daily I scan the forums for inspiration and members comments regarding the 997 and 987. So far I cannot take the plunge and sell my targa!
The problem is that, as you may appreciate, I enjoy driving the targa so much more than the 911`s and Boxsters I have tried: so much more communication and feedback .
I am ready to change car when something really thrills me more!
Thanks again
Tony
