Separate forum for Cayman S?

Well, when the Register Secretary is established, it will be for him to decide.
We have been hosting the fixed-head owners here until that time.

I've always said that as the Cayman is very much based on the Boxster, from a technical help point of view my opinion is that it would be useful to the owners of both models to use the same forum area (the same could be said of the 996/997 as well!). However that is not necessarily a popular view, and seperation and partitioning of information seems to be the choice of many[&:]
Can only be to the detriment of all, but insular feeling on all sides seems to be the order of the day [8|]

And yes, this has been discussed before! [:D]

Does anyone know how many Cayman S owners there are in the UK? I've not found a site dedicated to the Cayman S (along the lines of boxa.net).

The technical similarities do mean that where there is overlap, there should be sharing of information. Is this an indication of how the Forum should be grouped?

356 as major group with sub groups speedster etc etc
911 with sub groups 912 all the way to 993
924 with sub groups all the way to 968
928
996 all the way through 986 and 997, 987 to C7S
Cayenne

I've much enjoyed the last few weeks where some Nice Boys with Boxsters have been grumbling about the price of the C7S and have read with interest all the stuff that has been posted about that excellent car the "Cayman Convertible". Surely it makes sense to group the forum sections by family?

I'm not sure how many UK Cayman owners there are on here but I was toying with the idea of setting up a dedictaed forum for UK Cayman owners which would not have ties to Porsche GB (much along the lines of boxa.net). If there is sufficient interest I will go ahead and do so.

I would be interested. I read the American one but a British one would be better.

Paul.

Thanks, Paul. I'll see if any other Cayman or potential Cayman owners show interest and i'll knock up a quick site with a forum.

I too would be interested, however I would like to see a Cayman Forum here, NOW.

Sadly the Cayman Register Secretary will not be appointed until he gets a car. Consequently, the Regsiter, and also a Cayman Forum, will not be operational for quite a while. Whoever it is will have a major job starting a database and logging the plethora of data already in existance. I started the 997 Register and was grateful that I was appointed at the very start. Hence I never got behind. Our new RS will not have that luxury and will need to burn the midnight oil.

I did volunteer as Cayman RS when I took delivery of my car many months ago (actually volunteered before that, but was told to wait until I took delivery!) However I was turned down by the Board and was not given a valid reason why!

Okay, i've sorted out a cheap 'n cheerful message board. I'll put up a proper Web site around it when I get time. Obviously, it's free to register!

http://driverscar.co.uk

Hope to see you Cayman S owners and potential owners on there! It's a bit empty at the moment so i'll see how it goes over the next few weeks to decide if I want to make a proper go of it.

Surely the Politicos in their ivory towers in Moreton -on-Marsh can appoint now so that the register starts with the reg sec only becoming "fully licensed" once he or she takes delivery of their car. It seems to me that there is a rule applied that means that you can't be a register gnome unless you have a car of that type. If it helps, I'll buy the likely candidate a Cayman S tomorrow. My OPC at Solihull has losts of them in the display cabinet, nicely boxed......

Sometimes it seems that our club hinders as much as it helps.

Perhaps you said the Cayman was not a "real" Boxster.[;)]

I agree, It surely makes sense to let the forthcoming RS have a head start and get some groundwork done..

LOL! I thought the reference to 'Cayman RS' was a new Cayman model from Porsche! I've only just worked out what it meant... ;)

Nothing to do with me [:D]
I wanted us to all be one big happy family remember?
Now go off and play with your hatchback [;)]
