Mike of North West independent Porsche specialists Sports and Classic will be giving a presentation about their maintenance and tuning services. Those who attended their open day earlier in the year will have seen some of the things they can offer and this will be a great opportunity to ask Mike questions about what they can offer.

Marcus Carniel will be fresh back from the final rounds of the Porsche Club Championship that will be held at Spa Francorchamps to talk to us about Porsche club racing.

Marcus has raced in the club championships for a number of years now. Previously racing a 911SC he has achieved class wins in races and been a class runner up in the championship. 2008 saw him acquire a 964 C2 which he has raced in a number of rounds of this year's class 1 championship, with the aim of getting it ready to compete over a full season in 2009. This will be a great opportunity to find out what is involved in racing in the Porsche Club championships, what it is like to race a 911 on track and what Marcus can offer by way of tuition to those of us who like to take our cars on track once in a while.

Hi Simon, yes they are at the Deanwater hotel and all are welcome to come along. Hope to see you there.

Thanks to Mike and his team for an excellent presentation last night and being so open to questions from the floor. Of which there were many!

The ongoing quiz was a great idea too, even if the questions were bloody hard ones! [:D]

Just a reminder that next weeks club night will include a chat from Marcus Carniel about racing in the Porsche Club championship, only a matter of days after he gets back from the round at Spa.

And for added interest Marcus can tell us about his 2nd and 1st places in the two races at Spa at the weekend.

Also, congratulations to Ian White for taking his 964 to 1st and 2nd in the same races and wrapping up the the Class 1 title.

Sorry we couldn't make it - just a bit manic at work.

Hope to be there for Nov (if work hasn't calmed down by then I'll be really worried!).

Fraser.

A big Thank you to Marcus for giving us an excellent presentation on the night. Included was a brief history of his passion for cars and racing history to date. A guide about how to get involved in racing, some useful pointers on preparing a car for the track and track driving techniques. Questions were encouraged at all times through the presentation which lead to some lively discussion about hot tyre pressures and some good natured banter between Marcus and Stu Cookson (968 Register secretary) about the merits of 911s and 968s on track which kept us all entertained [:D].

The evening was extremely well attended by members from our region and from neighbouring regions who came over especially to listen to Marcus.
