Member News
Welcome to new members Robert & Mrs Higginson (Snelson "" 997C), Steven & Jean Leary (Warrington "" 993), Mark Perry (Sale "" 996C4 S), Terence Ward (Runcorn "" 987 Boxster S), Bryn Wharton (Congleton "" 911 & 944S), James Bushell (Dunham Massey "" 928S), Les Windows (Rochdale) and Peter Waddington (Bury "" 997C4 S).
I hope some, if not all of you made it to - and enjoyed - R5's premierl event, "Porsches at Arley Hall 2011", on September 11. If you weren't able to join us on that occasion your fellow R5 members and I look forward to meeting you at one of our other forthcoming events.

Next R5 Event
The next R5 event is our September Club Night, at The Deanwater Hotel, tomorrow Sept 14, starting at our regular time of 2000. Unfortunately the previously publicised presentation by a Specialist Police Officer cannot now take place, but instead member Peter Farley will talk about his long and varied involvement in motor sport, including what first took him in that direction. As usual, Keri and I and the other regular diners will gather at about 1900, so if it would also suit you to eat at the Deanwater prior to the meeting, please join us.

PORSCHES at ARLEY HALL 2011
R5's premier event was, as planned, better than last year's much acclaimed inaugural event at Arley Hall and only affected indirectly by the weather. The day was dawning clear and bright as the setting-up team gathered ahead of their 0630 target to prepare the event area for the day's activities and, but for some darkening of the sky and a few spots of rain on just two occasions, it changed little throughout the day, and there was never any wind to speak of. However, the media's woefully inaccurate forecasts of dire weather conditions clearly deterred a lot of members from attending. That was a great shame, both for them and the organising team who had put so much effort into the preparations for the event. Not-with-standing, the event was again a great success and the organising team deserve the thanks of all R5 members. (A full account of the event will appear in a future edition of Porsche Post.)

It is still not too late to complete and return the Planning Questionnaire issued with my March Newsletter.
