Service book!

Have any of you at any time obtained a new service book from an OPC. I recently have, not as a replacement but as a continuation of the original. However when I received it, it had the word 'REPLACEMENT' stamped across the vehicles details page. I questioned this with the OPC, to which they said, that this is how additional books are issued from Porsche! continuation or otherwise. Can't quite understand that, but there you go!!
Would appreciate any of your thoughts.

Hi Paul,

Like you I find it a bit strange to adopt that approach. However with a marque that has such high value in service history and maintenance records it might help to highlight fabricated service histories.

In your case though if you have filled the original service book and are starting on a second, my view is that as long as the first record in the new book follows the last in the original book by the appropriate mileage/time elapsed and you have receipts /invoices that match in terms of dates and mileages then I can't see that it matters.

If I was buying a car with this much history I'd be more interested in what had or hadn't been done in the maintenance history rather than it saying 'Replacement' on the cover.

Just my thoughts,

Steve

Thanks for your reply Steve. That would be my approach. Just wondered whether anyone had had the same experience in obtaining a new service book. Bizzar that Porsche would adopt. May be Porsche don't expect owners to requie an additional service book!!!

I didn't even think of getting an extra service book. I just made up some extra pages in Word and stuck them in. Keeps everything in the same place [:)]

Yep ... did think about that Steve .... then thought what the heck i'll get an additional one. Probably should have spent the £20 on powder coating my brake dust sheilds ;) ... never mind we like spending are hard earned cash on these cars!!
