Service History

Hi,
I am hoping someone else has tried to track a service history and give me a few pointers.
I bought my car 18 months ago with no service history apart from it being serviced, before I took ownership, by the independent that sold it.
I know this is utter madness, but the price reflected it and from what I have seen having worked on it I am over the moon with its condition.
After a few emails and phone calls, I have managed to track the original supplier from 2010 and an OPC that serviced it in 2016. I am trying to track the service history All the way back and get the book stamped up.
Has anyone ever done this and give me any pointers on how to go about it. If the car was done by independents then would this appear on any database other than their own?

Regards
Mike

Only way of doing it is the old fashioned way of ringing the dealers and specialists. You can sometimes narrow this down if you can get a list of owners and where they lived to narrow the search area, normally first 3 to5 years is main dealer which narrows it down. OPC records are all on database not sure if you can get at them

Thanks Gordon,

Managed to find the supplier from 2010 and its 1st service were both in Newcastle OPC in 2012. They have said they will stamp the replacement booklet with a minor and brake fluid change

After that a bit vague although it seems to stay in the Gateshead area until 2015 when it was sold and a major service carried out at Solihull OPC in 2016. They have also said they will stamp the replacement booklet

I already have the 2018 minor service from a Porsche specialist in Cradley Heath stamp the replacement book.

The next one will be a major probably at Zuffenhaus this year.

So just 2014 to find. I have called a few of the likely candidates in the Gateshead area, but with no joy.

I will probably call it a day at that. At least I will have a major from an OPC in 2016 and all the specialists after that, so happy days.

Mike,

If you check the MOT history that will give you a clue as to the whereabouts of the vehicle at any time. The 2014 service and MOT might have been done at the same time and by the same Dealer or Specialist.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

thanks for the reply. I’ve called the MOT centre and the four closest specialists to no avail.

I am going to leave it now. I am happy to get 2 out of 3 services stamped. It maybe that it was serviced outside of the specialist network or even not serviced. If this is the case then I’ll never find it.

The fact that it had a major service at an OPC and I have a full record since then covering the past 4 Years and 6k Miles gives me a fairly warm feeling.

What do owners do when they do their own maintenance to record the work?

So far I have changed the gearbox oil and brake fluid myself along with many other bits of general work such as cleaning rads and exhaust clamp change.

I’ve kept receipts for all the parts and taken photos during the process, mainly so I remember the dates. Do owners also fill the service booklet themselves and back it up with receipts for parts, or leave the booklet for “proper” garages with stamps.
