service intervals

i know that a lot of things need to be done evry 2 and 4 years but does the car tell you when it is due a service or give any other warnings (bit like a vw or bmw)?

No sign on the dash of any warning lights though the service book tells me it has had an oil, plugs & filters change prior to collection... strangely though, I haven't a desire to check the oil in case I find anything alarming though I guess I should!

My concern is that it may have had a far harder life than the mileage shows on the clock (less than 6k per year)

Bit worried about this "belt change" I see if being mentioned on various Forums at about 50k, I had the belt go on my 320SL and the results were horrendous incl crank case scuffing which then led to leakage.... does this stuff happen with a Boxster?

The camshafts are driven by chains, so a serpentine belt failure isn't quite as serious as it might be!

the on board comp on 987/997 and cayenne will tell you when its due if its set right from pdi...

it should tell you either due in 1000 miles or service due and 987/997 tell you in days too when it gets close..

otherwise its 2yr or 20,000 miles from reg date and so on
