I posted this on the 997 forum but havent got a lot of response. Maybe some of you guys no the answer on this board? Thanks in advance!

Is it worth supplying your own oil when getting the 997 serviced from the OPC?

How much oil is needed and what sort of savings can be made?

Also is there discount for PCGB membership from the OPCs

Thanks

It certainly does add up. When i had an oil change i brought with me enough oil and handed it to them on the day. The costs came to: -

2x4L Mobil 1 @ £19.89
Service @ £50.86 - Labour, filter and seal

Total @ £90.64 (or £106.52 inc. Vat)

Recently, i the car underwent its first service and brake fluid change. The final bill was a tad under £400 whereas the full cost is approx £534. So supplying your own oil for around £20 saved me around 100 squid.

I preferred to get an official stamp for the firet service, however a reputable indi will charge the same 400 quid all in including oil.

Popolou

If you have a Costco card then Mobil 1 is about £19 for 4 litres - you need about 10 for a 997 i think.

I bought my Fuchs oil via Guy at Opie Oils - 8 litres was around £65 delivered - no issues with OPC using my supplied oil - they would have charged me around £120 for their Mobil 1 which i feel is inferior in quality (IMO).

I just bought 16 litres of Fuchs Titan Supersyn 5W-40 from Opie Oils - but from their eBay site. £80 including delivery! Enough for 2 changes - Result!

Edit: Capacity for 996/997 is 8.25 litres with a filter change, or 8.0 litres without.
