Service Question

New member
Hi all,
my car is now 2 years old and is booked in for a service in the next few weeks.
last years service (1 year old) was carried out when the car mileage was 4000.
mileage is now 14000.
what service should I be requesting/expecting?
I also understand that the brake fluid should be replaced and a 2 year bodywork inspection carried out?
In the maintenance record last years entry had ticks next to yearly maintenance and minor maintenance.
Is it a minor, major or something in between!
guidance would be much appreciated
Andrew

You should be looking at the 12000 mile service and the brake fluid.

JCB..

Don't forget to take your own oil and save £50!

JCB - I heard that taking your own Mobil-1 oil knocks off 90 quid! Bear in mind that 4 litres costs over 30 quid from Halfords. I think you need 9 litres so the saving is around 20 quid.

On a somewhat related note, I heard a while ago that Mobil-1 topups are free from OPC's. Not sure if this is/was true.

Well the OPC will charge you around a ton + VAT for the oil which can be bought from Halfords for around half the price inclusive of VAT.

You need 9 litres - 2x4 and 1x1.

If you keep your eyes open for sales and in garages you can sometimes buy a 4 litre bottle for less than £20!

And we're in good company. The Mercedes-McLaren SLR is shipped with Mobil-1 oil. If it's good enough for a 618BHP car then it's good enough for my little old Boxster.

Andrew if you want to half the cost of the brake fluid change go to
any Porsche Specialist who will do this job while you wait for half
the money. [8D]
