Anybody got a suggestion for the best way to DIY check the operation of ignition circuit 1 & 2 during the annual service? I don't have a commercial exhaust gas analyser, let alone the official Porsche diagnostic tool (!).
Would you just remove the lower distributor cap & check belt is not snapped (by trying to turn lower rotor arm)?
Alternatively, I've seen it suggested to temporarily remove the upper HT coil lead to check that engine still starts via the lower distributor only. I've always understood that you should not try to turn an engine over with the HT coil lead disconnected as this may damage the coil. Perhaps disconnect LOW tension supply to upper coil pack?
Comments/advice appreciated!
