Hi, all
i did not get any luck with replies when i posted this request for advice at my region's forum I wonder anybody can advice/recommend a good specialist near southampton?

The first year since i got the car of my dreams (996 C2 1999 LHD) has gone and its time for a service. Are there any Posche specialists near Southampton that you can recommend?
In one of the older posts there was a recommnedation to try and keep OPC service history in order to reduce depreciation is that true?

If you are planning to sell - then yes, very much so.
If you are planning to keep the car more than when it is 6 to 8 years old, then not really.

If you want good service at fair price, why not going to France?

You live near Southampton, don't you? So, go to a French OPC (= official Porsche Centre) and you'll pay almost 50% less. The savings will pay for a nice gastro weekend in Normandy... or in Paris...

When I part exchanged my 996 3.4 coupe for a 996 3.6 convertible in June 03, the OPC Reading sales rep. asked the very well known question: "full Porsche service history?" I replied : Yes, Full French OPC Service History!!! Then, I asked: "any problem?". His answer was: "No, it's perfect" [:D]

JZM every time, never used them myself but have known many who do and have had some excellent reports
 
I've been taking my 964 to JZM for years and will take my new 996 when it's due. Never had any issue with their work and have always had good service and advice.

I've never used OPC so can't offer and comment on whether there is any benefit.
 
I haven't used OPC Hatfield, but travel from Royston herts (near OPC cambs) to go to JZM who's servicing cost is the same as OPC the difference is you get a better service, I can't say to much on what I mean on here but it's just very down to earth and honnest.

ok so by the looks of it people prefer to have work / service done at an independent rather the main dealer,

I have used Carrera Engineering, 01992 892333, Tony Ruggles, in Nazeing for the least 20 years. I would highly recommend him.[:)]
 
JZM every time, serviced my 964 to a very high standard, after that was wriiten off in Scotland last year,looked around for a 996 Turbo for a couple of months, drove a few that were supposidly serviced & ready to go but, drove a Turbo from JZM that they said need a 24,000 mile servic & that drove better than all the so called ready to go cars, cannot recommend them enough.

I have had some work done by JZM in December and was very happy with the work.
Looks like most people don't see having a service stamp at OPC to be worth it so think i will take it to JZM
